Thankfulness and Gratefulness…. What does it mean to you?

International-thank-you

When you are grateful or thankful it helps you.

You will feel more positive.  Some say emotional and physical benefits come from being grateful.

Here are some ideas for getting started

– Start a gratitude journal.  Set aside time daily to record several things that you are grateful for.

– Most people try to think of 3 to 5 people or things that can write about.

(I know a 12 year old who makes a list of 20 things every day!}

-Before you go to sleep at night. List some things you are thankful for that happened that day.

-Change your self-talk. If you find yourself grumbling about a stressor in your life, try to think of 4-5 related things you are grateful for.

People who are grateful and thankful have a greater sense of emotional well-being.

 Psalm 106:1

 Praise the Lord. Give thanks to the Lord, for he is good;
his love endures forever.

1 Thessalonians 5:16-18

Be joyful always; pray continually; give thanks in all circumstances, for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.

Colossians 4:2

Devote yourselves to prayer, being watchful and thankful.

Colossians 3:15

Let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, since as members of one body you were called to peace. And be thankful.

Philippians 4:6-7

Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.
