The Holy Eucharist is one of the sacraments of initiation. Those who have been raised to the dignity of the royal priesthood by Baptism and configured more deeply to Christ by Confirmation participate with the whole community in the Lord’s own sacrifice by means of the Eucharist.
First Eucharist is usually celebrated in the second grade in spring. This preparation includes ongoing formation in the Sunday Morning Program and in St. Matthias School, who work in partnership with the home.
Preparation for this sacrament is family-centered, which includes a take home workbook/activities, engaging in-person sessions, prayer, Scripture and sacramental craft projects. With rehearsals and the celebrations toward the end of April to bring the preparation cycle to a close.
If your child is beyond second grade and would like to prepare to receive their First Eucharist, contact the Parish Office at 414-321-0893.
