Mrs. Tricia Bons5th Grade Teacher
I have been teaching at St. Matthias Parish School since the fall of 2019. Before coming to St. Matthias I taught 5th grade at St. Margaret Mary, long term subbed in the Pewaukee and Menomonee Falls school districts, and taught for 7 years in the Greenfield School District. I earned my bachelor’s degree in education from UW-Oshkosh.
Fifth grade is an important year for students to learn about themselves academically and socially. Students reflect on their own learning process. They need to advocate for themselves and ask questions when they don’t fully understand the skills and concepts being taught in order to succeed. Students also learn about the rewards and consequences of the choices they make. They are the ones in control of their actions.
Fifth graders take part in Phy. Ed., music, art, and library classes. In the classroom they learn the subjects of reading, writing, math, social studies, science, and religion. They regularly change seating arrangements to promote learning how to work with and get along with all of their peers.
