Ms. Sarah Faust1st Grade Teacher
I started teaching at Saint Matthias in the fall of 2018 and am so happy to be a part of this wonderful community. Prior to joining the Saint Matthias team, I earned my Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education from the University of Wisconsin Milwaukee.
At the center of my teaching is a deep sense of care for and commitment to each student.
I love learning and I strive to pass on that love and enthusiasm to my students. In first grade, we spend a lot of time on reading and writing across all subject areas. The students quickly see the benefit of having those reading and writing skills as it crosses over into word problems in math and reading about engaging topics in social studies, science and religion. We also spend a lot of time learning routines, social interactions with peers and adults, and taking pride in our work. In first grade we do a combination of both large group and small group instruction. Students also do a lot of collaborative work either in small groups or with partners. All of these different modes of learning promote their academic, social and behavioral growth.
In first grade we embrace the uniqueness of our peers while coming together to form a community where everyone feels welcome and inspired to learn!
